Recruitment freeze

Recently people have been telling me that there is a recruitment freeze in place at Susi Air for at least the next 2 months due to excessive crew numbers. 

I guess due to the slow turnover of pilots for various reasons, Captains are not moving on as frequently as they used to. The latest initial course only had 5 guys. Normally this number is around 8-12. Keep sending those applications though, as things can change quickly.

    Alright then, rumours pretty much confirmed then I guess. This only means "we" got at least two more months to work and save up for beermoney, eh? :D

    Would Susi Air hire a married pilot with kids, if they would remain in New Zealand. And were supportive of him moving for this great job prospect? Also is it correct that Susi Air pay for flights home to 'gateway' countries on pilots leave weeks?

    Hi Tim

    Yes plenty of the guys in Susi are married and have kids. Just don't mention it at the interview, will make your life a lot easier!

    Susi Air does not pay for any tickets to your home countries. They only pay tickets for a) Co-pilots who are changing base. So if you had just done a 6 week Balikpapan tour, they would pay your ticket to Jakarta or Singapore (if its the same price)and from there you have to pay your own ticket home if you are going on leave. B) For Papua Captains to/from Papua before and after leave from either Bali or Jakarta.

    Hi Frederik,

    I wanted to know one thing, does susi air insist on a current IR before the interview.
    Mine just lapsed last month and not able to find examiners for renewing my IR here.
    It will take a month for renewal.

    And when did the last interviews happen and when can we expect it again.

    I applied there in susi air so many times but never get reply, last month i went to indonesia and tried my luck in all charters but couldnt get through.

    I have my FAA CPL, Indian and Canadian CPL as well.

    is there and company you know where I can do my Carvan rating and also build up some 400-500 hours on Carvan.??

    Hi Frederik,

    First of all, your blog is amazing! I got hired for an interview by Susi and at the last single engine job I had everyone just wore jeans and a shirt to the interview. I am getting the idea that Susi Air is expecting you to wear a suit.... How do you comment on this?

    "All positions filled" - Current status after last round of hiring - Eventhough the HR guy told me they were undergoing restructuring and therefore had a hiring-freeze. Hopefully there will be more hiring during the fall? I guess current staff have to move on before they can fit more in.

    Congrats for your excellent Susi Air blog (and actually the job !).
    I am from Argentina, ICAO CPL, 1100 Hs TT, King Air (150+ Hs) C208 (one Ferry SIC USA to Argentina, 33 Hs) and Learjet SIC experience (220 Hs).
    Sent my CV but no reply.
    Do you have the latest situation about hiring at the moment ? I am 47 y/o...Also Polish passport, besides the Argentina one. Are there any Latin American pilots working there ? Thanks a lot for your reply. Jose
